Homework#9

1. Do you think Japan should give more students options to study more languages (other than English) in Junior and Senior High School?

Uh... I am not sure that problem. It is good things that to study and learn a lot of things but Japan education at present is "YUTORI KYOUIKU". So in the case of give a students too much assignment, I think students can not study one language intensively. I guess what is most important is to motivate the students. If students wants to study more, I think studying oneself or taking a cram scool is better.

2. Read this interesting opinion from the Mainichi newspaper. Do you agree with the author? Is being fluent in English a waste of time? http://mdn.mainichi.jp/perspectives/news/20081230p2a00m0na010000c.html

No, I don't think so. First of all, it is impossible to say that Japanese English teacher do not speak English well. Of course, Japanese English teacher can speak English fluently, too, but they are no match for native. However, I think their enthusiasm are much the same as native. Second of all, I have never ever thought that to study anything is waste of time. I think process is very valuable.

I think "Yutori kyouiku" is not good, because I think we don't need so many holidays.
What do you think about "Yutori kyouiku" ?
